The Yo-Yo Barrel is an enemy that is encountered in Dark Chronicle. It is first seen in Starlight Canyon, and then seen in several areas afterwards. It is a large wooden robot that uses barrels as a form of attack, wheels as its legs, and is piloted by a Duke Balloon. It has a boss variation, the Lapis Garter, that appears in the Starlight Canyon star path's wind chamber.

Battle Tactics

Yo-Yo Barrels and its variations are one of the lesser windups due to their lack of piercing strength. His attacks may be quite powerful, but they are slow and the player can be easily protected if they block, as this monster's attacks have no piercing power.

This monster has two attacks; both of which are only executed when close to the player. In the first attack, the Yo-Yo Barrel will spin like a cyclone in direction of the player in order to hit him, which lasts a couple of seconds, and then the Yo-Yo Barrel is vulnerable to attack for a small time, until its next attack. Its second attack uses its right or left arm, which is easily blocked and lasts only a slight moment, allowing the player, if given good timing, to make precious hits to the Yo-Yo Barrel.

It is recommended to use the Ridepod at earlier points of the game if the player is lacking strong weapons. To defeat the Yo-Yo Barrel using the Ridepod, use distance weapons such as Barrel Cannon or Missile Pods, as melee weapons take some time to actually land a hit without taking damage.

• When confronting the Rolling Rocks or Clock Knight as a Windup monster through Monica's Monster transformation, their quotes appear to have been mistakenly switched.
