The Baron Garayan is a type of fish in the Dark Cloud series that are among the rarest of fish.
In Dark Cloud, they are freshwater fish that can only be caught in Matataki Village at the Waterfall or at Muska Racka's Oasis, with the potato cake only. The Baron Garayan are most common during dusk, uncommon during day and night, and the most rare during the afternoon. They are the biggest fish and provide the most points per cm when caught. Their value in FP is equal to twice their length in centimeters plus 400. Catching a Baron Garayan unlocks the option to purchase the Mardan Eins sword for 2500 FP. Catching at least one Baron Garayan or Mardan Garayan unlocks the ability to reveal the type of trap associated with Large Chests; thusly eliminating the need for keys (or guessing). This is true despite the fact that the chest still says "Mardan Garayan shows the right path."
Baron Garayan also makes an appearance in Dark Chronicle. They can be caught in Heim Rada's hotsprings between 4 PM and 9 PM. They can only be caught using a Fork lure. Baron Garayan are one of the heaviest fish that can be caught.
